Duct and Pipe Support Brackets for Road Bridge

Following Ellis’s supply of steel work on the Wear Crossing project, Ellis was approached to provide a steelwork solution for the Springhead Bridge. The main design of the bridge had been completed but the structure to support ducts that would carry power cables was still to be completed.

New Wear Bridge Crossing

Northern Power Grid installed power cables under the New Wear Bridge as a new main supply route. The existing route on the Queen Alexander Bridge was scheduled to be decommissioned due to its age and the phasing out of oil filled cables. The cable installation is unique in that it requires the cables to be suspended under the bridge and above a river. The cables are carried in Emtelle ducts.

Bespoke Cable Hangers for Media Pavilion

The customer approached Ellis with a requirement for cable hangers. The cable hanger location and shape had been drawn on the overall sight plan. Ellis used this information to create a design that could be used with stock material and tooling, this was done to minimise lead time for the project.
