Ellis has strengthened its position as a sustainability leader in the cable management industry with the publication of a new Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) covering its polymer cable cleat range.

The independently verified EPD provides transparent, third-party assessed environmental impact data across the full lifecycle of Ellis polymer cable cleats, from raw material sourcing and manufacturing through to end-of-life disposal and recycling.

The declaration follows Ellis’ previously announced world-first EPD for stainless steel cable cleats and represents another major step forward in the company’s commitment to helping customers make more informed and sustainable specification decisions.

The polymer cable cleat EPD has been produced in accordance with internationally recognised standards, including EN 15804+A2, ISO 14025 and ISO 21930, ensuring consistency, transparency and comparability for contractors, consultants, EPCs and end users.

An EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is often described as the environmental equivalent of a nutritional label. It provides independently verified data about a product’s environmental performance, including measures such as:

  • Global warming potential (carbon footprint)

  • Resource consumption

  • Waste generation

  • Energy usage

  • End-of-life treatment and recycling routes

Unlike generic sustainability claims, EPDs are evidence-based documents built using detailed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, giving specifiers confidence in the accuracy and transparency of the data.

The publication of the polymer cleat EPD is particularly significant as sustainability requirements continue to increase across sectors, including data centres, renewables, infrastructure, rail and power generation, where environmental reporting and embodied carbon considerations are becoming central to project procurement.

By making verified lifecycle data readily available, Ellis is supporting customers and partners in achieving their own environmental and ESG objectives while improving visibility across complex supply chains.

As part of its wider sustainability strategy, Ellis has already reduced its operational carbon footprint by 57% over the last seven years and now generates approximately 53% of its energy from solar power.
