Situation

• The customer needed to feed multiple 117mm diameter cables along a specified route within a fabricated structure.
• Challenge: Existing products couldn’t efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively install the cables due to twists and turns.

 

Solution

• Ellis had previously developed a roller system for HV cable installation in power tunnels.
• Ellis developed the first two-in-one cable guide and clamp solution.
Timeline:
• Within six weeks: Siemens approved the new product design.
• Two weeks later: Five working prototypes successfully passed installation trial in Germany.
• Less than a month later: Ellis received the order and had the tooling ready for mass production.
