ELLIS ENJOYS RECORD SALES SUCCESS
Ellis, the plumbing products division of market leading electrical cable and pipe fixing manufacturer, Ellis Patents, has seen a 100 per cent improvement in the sales of its Apache pipe clamps during the last 12-months – a result that elevates the North Yorkshire company’s product to a market leading position.
Over 320,000 of the clamps, which are manufactured as part of an exclusive rolling contract with BSS, have now been sold through its nationwide chain of 56 branches since the commencement of the contract in 2003.

The product stands out from others on the market due to its innovative design and labour-saving features, and the way the sales figures have grown year-on-year suggests its popularity with BSS’ customer base will ensure continued success for many years to come.”
Manufactured wholly in the UK, there are two versions of the Apache clamp, which allow pipes to be either hung with the use of a screwed rod or directly fixed onto framing channel. Available in 16 sizes, Apache products are suitable for metric pipes ranging from 15mm to 171mm and imperial pipes from ˝“ to 6" bore. This flexibility is further enhanced by the product’s ratchet design that enables each clamp to accommodate a range of different pipe sizes. Additionally, the robustness of the product design and its good chemical resistance ensure its longevity.
Ellis’ innovative approach to product development is also demonstrated by the incorporation of a ‘twist fit’ feature on all Apache framing channel products. Designed to dramatically reduce installation time so that the installed price of the product is cheaper than competing product, it enables the installer to securely fit the clamp by simply inserting it into the channel, twisting it and, after locating the pipe, snapping the captive overstrap shut.
