APACHE CLAMPS FROM ELLIS SPECIFIED FOR MAJOR MANCHESTER DEVELOPMENT
Pipe clamps from the Ellis Apache range have been chosen for use in certain areas of the record-breaking Belvedere House development on Booth Street in Manchester city centre.
Developed by Wilson Bowden, the 103,000sq ft mixed use development comprises eight floors of Grade A office space, each of which offers 16,000 sq ft floorplates – the largest ever offered in Manchester’s prime business core.
The Ellis Apache clamps allow pipes to be hung either with the use of a screwed rod or directly fixed onto framing channel. They are distributed exclusively by BSS nationwide and were chosen for use on the project by leading building services provider, N G Bailey.
Dave Eggleton, NG Bailey’s mechanical supervisor on the Belvedere House development, commented: “We are committed to innovation and continuous improvement. The Apache pipe clamps stood out for us, from other similar products, due to the fact they are quick, easy and cost effective to install and offer the kind of flexibility needed for major building projects.”
Manufactured wholly in the UK, there are two versions of Apache, for pipe hangers and for framing channel. Available in 16 different sizes, Apache products are suitable for metric pipes ranging from 15mm to 171mm and imperial pipes from ˝“ to 6” bore. This flexibility is further enhanced by the ratchet design that enables each clamp to accommodate a range of different pipe sizes. Additionally, the robustness of the product design and its good chemical resistance ensure its longevity.
Meanwhile, the innovative approach of Ellis to product development is demonstrated by the incorporation of a ‘twist fit’ feature on the Apache framing channel range that is designed to dramatically reduce installation time so that the installed price of the product is cheaper than competing product. The installer fits the clamp simply by inserting it into the channel, twisting it, and after locating the pipe, snapping the captive overstrap shut.
